Learn About Dix and His World Here

The first Dix book, High Plains Haunting and Other Tales of the Paranormal West, is out now! Read on to learn more about the weird, wild western world of Dix Dereuse.

Dix is a shaman, according to his Navajo grandmother, a wise woman of unusual abilities. "You walk in the world of spirit and the world of man," she always told him. Dix didn't want to listen, though. He just wanted to ride horses and have fun. He ignored her lessons and left home to roam the American frontier. Unfortunately, the supernatural came looking for him and Dix was not prepared.

Now, Dix travels the Wild West helping lost souls, hunting monsters and wishing he had listened to his grandmother's lessons.

Dix is an Award Winner!

The Dix tale, The Cursed Cabin of Cat's Holler, won a First Place Award at the White County Creative Writers Conference of 2024. In 2025, Dix received international notice when the story, A Trail's End Reckoning, was awarded an Honorable Mention in the 94th Annual Writers Digest Short Story Competition.

High Plains Haunting includes his introductory novella and other Dix stories that chronicle his first tumultuous year as a ghost helper and monster hunter.

What Early Readers Say...

"I have to know what happens next!" Beta reader Stacy Balcom, after reading Dix's debut novella.

"This is a great storyline to introduce the character of Dix. In fact, it's one of my favorites of all the Dix stories I've read." Christine Anthony, author of When I See You Again, When I See Your Smile, and Good Citizens.

"Dix gets himself in some dandy messes - either following good intentions or tossing them aside. His escapades have me holding my breath or readying for disaster, but I'm always rooting for Dix Dereuse!" Close to Home columnist Teresa Lee.

Future Publications of Albert Morrow

The Long Goodnight

Sagebrush Songbird

The Hellfire Heist

Most of these projects are being prepped for publication, or are completed works that are awaiting their turn at publication.

An historical mystery set in the 1920's. I love this story of WW1 veteran Lincoln McNulty, but it won't see publication for a while. I have two, maybe three, novels ahead of it in the lineup.

The gritty tale of western anti-hero Body Lynch. It is ready for proofing and beta reading, but has a while yet to wait.

The tale of disreputable reporter Gordon Kimbel investigating a museum heist that sets him against cultists and gangsters in the crime plagued city of Samar Harbor, Massachusetts in 1922.

Gunfighter's Dilemma

A western novel that is going through the final proofing stage. It will be in beta reading very soon and may be my next publication.

Dix 2

The second Dix Dereuse book. Many of the chapters are written, but much of the oldest section of the book needs revision. Readers really want this book, so it may jump its place in the line up.
